4-Day Himalayan Meditation Retreat in Pokhara, Nepal

4-Day Himalayan Meditation Retreat in Pokhara, Nepal

Nepal · 4 days · From EUR 198

The retreat takes place at Osho Divine Zone Ashram, a meditation centre in Kaskikot, about an hour from Pokhara. The ashram is set in the hills, surrounded by forest and terraced farmland, and the pace of the day follows a fixed schedule. Mornings start early with an active meditation — one of the Osho dynamic techniques that involves breathing, movement and sound. After that there's breakfast, then a quieter sitting session. The afternoon usually has another active practice, followed by a sound healing session with singing bowls and other instruments. Evenings are for group sharing or a final silent sitting before dinner.

What sets this apart from a generic meditation retreat is that it's an Osho-style programme. That means the active meditations are a core part of the day, not just an add-on. You'll do techniques like Dynamic Meditation and Kundalini Meditation, which are more physical than what you'd find at a typical vipassana or mindfulness retreat. The sound healing sessions are led with Himalayan singing bowls, which ties into the location. The ashram itself is a working meditation centre, so there's a resident community and a routine that continues outside the retreat group.

The facilitators are from the ashram's team. They've been running these retreats for years and are used to guiding people who have never meditated before as well as those who have an existing practice. You don't need any experience — they explain each technique before you start and you can sit out if something doesn't feel right. The group is usually a mix of solo travellers and a few couples, and most people are there for a personal reset rather than a social holiday.

Kaskikot is a quiet village on a ridge with views of the Annapurna range on clear days. It's not a tourist strip — there are a few tea shops and walking trails, and Pokhara is close enough for a day trip if you want one. Most people stay on site for the full four days, which is the point. The ashram has a garden, a meditation hall and simple accommodation blocks. It's not luxurious, but it's comfortable and the location is the main draw.
