Home › Retreats › 4-Day Women's Wellness Journey: Sahara Desert Yoga & Nomadic Culture in Morocco
Morocco · 4 days · From USD 1150
The retreat begins with a pickup from Errachidia airport or a nearby guesthouse. From there it's a scenic drive through desert landscapes to Merzouga, where you'll load onto camels for a sunset trek into the dunes. The camp itself is a traditional desert setup with white Berber tents, rugs, and warm light—a place where the quiet is almost loud. Mornings start with open-level yoga on the sand, adjusted by the teacher to suit the group and the moment of the day. Afternoons are given to cultural exchange: visits to nomadic families, fossil sites, performances of Gnawa music and desert drumming. Evenings wind down with sunset yoga, mint tea, and shared meals under a tin roof or the open sky.
The middle of the journey takes you from the Sahara toward the mountains. After a final sunrise yoga session in the dunes, you drive through changing scenery—dry riverbeds, Berber villages, palm groves—to Agdz. Here the evening holds a Vinyasa Flow class in a palm-filled valley, and you sleep in a peaceful eco-lodge at the edge of the Anti-Atlas. The last day includes a stop at Aït Ben Haddou, the UNESCO-listed kasbah you've likely seen in films, then a drive over the High Atlas to Marrakech, where the retreat ends with an afternoon drop-off.
What makes this different from a standard yoga retreat is the travel element and the intimacy. The group is kept small, and there's a strong focus on connecting with local people—nomads who share tea, music, and their way of living. Your host Daniela tailors the yoga to the energy of the day and the abilities of the group, so it works whether you've never done yoga or you practice daily. It's a retreat that moves, and it rewards people who are curious about Morocco as much as they are about their own practice.
