United Kingdom · 4 days · From USD 378
Riverside Cabins sits on the banks of the River Perry in the hamlet of Wykey, on the outskirts of Shrewsbury. The site is small and deliberately low-key, with lodges and cabins set among trees and grass rather than in neat rows. Morning classes happen in The Nest, a new round wellness studio with a deck that faces the grounds—enough space that group yoga and Pilates sessions feel airy even in cooler months. Afternoons might involve a workshop on nutrition or an alignment session, but mostly they’re left open. Guests drift between the river, the hammocks, the natural plunge pool, and the wood-fired hot tubs.
Yasmin leads the practice. She started yoga in 2014 as a way to manage anxiety, took her 200-hour Hatha training, and has since added advanced modules in pranayama, vinyasa, Yin, and meditation. Her sessions are mixed-level and practical, aimed at leaving you feeling looser and more grounded rather than pushing you into advanced postures. During this specific 4-day retreat, Pilates-inspired workouts appear on the schedule twice, alongside the yoga and a sound bath on the final evening.
Food is central to the stay. Yasmin trained at Leith's School of Food and Wine as a plant-based chef and cooks everything herself, serving meals family-style at the Smokehouse, the outdoor kitchen and dining space. Produce is seasonal, dishes are flavour-forward—think sharing platters rather than biryani-by-numbers—and dietary needs like gluten-free are handled as default rather than as a problem. Breakfasts are laid out as buffets with fresh fruit and juices, and dinner on day two can finish with live music around the firepit.
The river shapes daily life here. Free kayaks and paddleboards are available whenever you want them, and there’s a natural plunge pool for wild swimming at the edge of the grounds. The nearest village, Ruyton XI Towns, is about two miles away and has a popular café, while the town of Shrewsbury is fifteen miles off, worth a visit for its market and riverside park. But most people stay on site, which is the point. The retreat’s sell is simplicity: a few days of decent classes, proper food, and a riverbank to stare at.
