5 Day Aerial Arts and Yoga Retreat in Milpas Altas, Guatemala

Guatemala · 5 days · From USD 1076

This is a five-day, four-night private retreat focused entirely on aerial arts, held at Casa Blanca, Dani and Jorge's home in Santa Lucía Milpas Altas, about fifteen minutes from Antigua, Guatemala. The retreat is deliberately small—usually just you, possibly you plus a friend—so the teaching is highly personal. It's aimed squarely at beginners, though intermediate students are welcome, and the whole point is to give you a solid introduction to the different apparatuses: aerial silks, lyra hoop, trapeze, and aerial hammock.

A typical day kicks off with a yoga and movement class, followed by a session of aerial yoga or hammock fitness. After a rest and lunch, the afternoon brings an intense ninety-minute workshop on a specific apparatus—silks one day, hoop the next, trapeze after that—and the day winds down with a Hatha yoga class focused on flexibility. The idea is to pair the flying work with stretching and recovery so your body doesn't seize up.

What makes this retreat different is its personal scale. There's no herd of participants; it's just you and your instructors. If you're flying solo, you have the option to pick one apparatus and spend the whole retreat mastering it. Dani's approach is patient and safety-conscious—mats are provided in every class—and she's taught aerial arts and yoga for over a decade. Jorge, her partner, handles logistics, photography, and local excursions, so you're well looked after.

The setting is a genuine mountain retreat. Casa Blanca is perched on a hill slope with views of volcanoes, surrounded by private houses and farmland. You'll hear birds (maybe hummingbirds if you're lucky), see butterflies, and occasionally spot squirrels in the garden. The house itself has a terrace, living room, dining area, and a deck, and the rooms have views. Antigua, with its Spanish baroque architecture, is an easy drive away when you want a change of scene.
