Indonesia · 5 days · From USD 601
This is a detox retreat with a strong emotional-healing thread, run at a sustainably built bamboo eco-lodge in West Bali. The seven on-site bungalows are shaped like different animals and use an open-space design that keeps you connected to the jungle around you. Rooms have no air conditioning — the team feels it interferes with the body's natural detoxification — but you get fans, garden views, and a private balcony, and the sound of the river below does the cooling work at night. It is an honest, back-to-basics stay rather than a luxury resort, and guests are warned upfront that if you can't cope with a lizard on the ceiling, this probably isn't for you.
Each day starts with morning yoga and meditation on the yoga deck, followed by a hearty plant-based breakfast. The rest of the day is a mix of included activities: a signature emotional-release breathwork session (SOMA® Breathwork) led by Charlotte, a facilitator who openly talks about her own decade-long battles with anxiety and eating disorders; an ice bath session for building mental resilience; and a sound healing journey using ancient instruments. In the afternoons you get your daily hour-long Balinese massage, and there's always a cultural activity on the roster — pick from a Balinese cooking class, a language lesson, a blessing water purification at a local waterfall, or a volunteer river-cleaning session.
The retreat centre was founded in 2017 in the aftermath of the Mount Agung eruption, when the team trained local villagers in bamboo construction. Those craftsmen now build sustainable homes across Indonesia, and the furniture in your room is handcrafted by them using a biomimicry approach — designs inspired by nature itself. You are also given free access to one of Bali's oldest spiritual ashrams, a short distance away, where teachers like Master Ky have practised Balinese martial arts and Tai Chi for over twenty years, and where Krishna teaches traditional Watukaru yoga.
Food is central to the experience here. All meals are vegetarian and vegan, made from locally sourced ingredients, and treated as medicinal nourishment to support cleansing and replenishment. You can personalise your approach with a juice detox or intermittent fasting program depending on what your body needs, and they'll always accommodate allergies or dietary requirements if you flag them in advance. A digital detox is encouraged, and if you hand in your phone for the week, there's a surprise gift waiting for you at the end.
This is a place for people who want to step away from the commercialised side of Bali, slow right down, and reconnect with nature and themselves. You'll be guided by a warm team that includes Charlotte (breathwork), Krishna and Putu Ayu (yoga), and Master Ky (martial arts), all of whom are committed to making sure you feel held, supported, and able to find your own pace. Whether you're a complete retreat beginner or an experienced practitioner, you'll leave feeling physically lighter and mentally clearer.
