50-Day Traditional Yoga Teacher Training on Malaysia's Morib Beach

Malaysia · 50 days · From USD 10349

The World Yoga Association has been running this 50-day World Yoga Teacher Training (WYTT) since the organisation was established in 1999 and registered with Malaysia's Ministry of Home Affairs in 2018. The curriculum draws on a much wider range of yoga traditions than most teacher trainings cover in this timeframe: Hatha, Ashtanga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Iyengar, Sivananda, Kshatriya, Raja, Bhakti, Jnana, Karma, Chakra, Kundalini, Tantra, Mantra, Yoga Nidra, pranayama, and meditation.

A typical day packs in a lot. After morning Shatkarma and pranayama, you move through two asana classes, teaching methodology, alignment and adjustments, and a strength-focused Kshatriya Yoga session. Afternoons cover anatomy and physiology, yoga therapy, Ayurveda and Siddha concepts, and a deep dive into yogic philosophy — the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and related texts. Evenings wind down with meditation, mantra chanting, and Yoga Nidra. Over the 50 days this adds up to a genuinely comprehensive training.

Lead instructor Guruji Murugan Chillayah is a grandmaster in the traditional yoga lineage. Reviews from past students describe him as firm but patient, inspiring, and deeply knowledgeable — someone who teaches the history and science of yoga, not just the poses. He is credited with making students realise that yoga is far more than the positions commonly taught in Europe.

The property sits in tropical beachside gardens with its own pool, about 40 km from KLIA, and daily vegetarian meals are provided except on Sundays. Class size is capped at 20, which keeps teaching personally attentive even in such a long program. The 49-night length is what really sets this apart — 50 days is an uncommon commitment, and it allows a depth of study that shorter trainings cannot match.
