Home › Retreats › 50-Hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training in the Himalayan Foothills of Rishikesh
Rishikesh · 7 days · From USD 539
This program at Gurukul Yogashala is structured around giving you a thorough understanding of Yin Yoga, from the theory of the meridian system to the practical skills of sequencing and adjusting. Each day includes a Yang Yoga class to build heat and strength, followed by Yin Yoga practice in the afternoon. You'll learn 26 key Yin postures, their variations, and how to use props effectively for different body types. The course also covers the application of anatomy, with a focus on fascia, connective tissue, and safe stretching versus harmful stress.
A significant part of the day is dedicated to philosophy, meditation, and pranayama, reflecting the traditional ashram approach to learning. You'll study the history of Yin Yoga, the concepts of Yin and Yang, and the koshas, while daily meditation and pranayama sessions build the internal focus needed for this practice. The teaching practicum is a key component – you'll practice teaching your peers under the guidance of the instructors, getting immediate feedback to refine your skills.
Gurukul Yogashala operates in the guru-shishya tradition, where students live and learn with their teachers, creating a family-like atmosphere. The team includes a range of specialists, from anatomy teachers to Ayurvedic doctors and Sanskrit scholars, which adds depth to the training. Guests consistently mention the quality of the teachers and the welcoming, supportive community as highlights of their stay. If you’re ready to slow down, turn inward, and learn to teach yoga with clarity and compassion, this week in the Himalayas offers a solid foundation.
