Home › Retreats › 50-Hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training in the Himalayan Foothills of Rishikesh
Rishikesh · 7 days · From USD 387
The first morning of the Yin Yoga Teacher Training starts at 6am with a dynamic Yang Yoga practice that gets the body warm and ready for the week. This is followed by an hour of pranayama and meditation, before breakfast. The training is structured to build a comprehensive understanding of yin yoga—you'll learn 28 key poses with variations and props, and how to sequence them using the meridian system.
The middle of each day is spent on philosophy, where subjects like the Koshas (the five layers of the self) and the stages of the mind are covered. After lunch and rest, the afternoon shifts to anatomy and meridians, looking at the connective tissue and fascia and how yin poses affect them. Later, between 4pm and 5pm, you'll focus on alignment and sequencing. The day ends with a yin yoga practice and Yoga Nidra, a guided meditation for deep rest, at 6pm.
The school is well-run and organized, and the teachers are a strong point. The team includes Dr. Yogi, a mentor and philosophy teacher, Ashu, a Hatha yoga teacher known for alignment, Dr. Nishant Bhatnagar, an Ayurveda specialist, and Atharva, a Vedic astrologer and mantra teacher, among others. You'll get a real sense of the breadth of Indian yoga traditions here, from the subtleties of pranayama to the detailed anatomy sessions that directly apply to the practice.
What stands out about this training is the unusual combination of a traditional ashram setting with a detailed, anatomy-heavy curriculum. Many yin trainings spend a lot of time on philosophical concepts, but here you'll actually sit down and study the structure of the knee and the hip, and how to apply that knowledge to a yin sequence. This grounding in anatomy pairs with the spiritual heart of the town—Rishikesh is packed with ashrams, temples, and the Laulima? beachside sights, and the quiet energy of the ghats is a short walk away—to create a training that is both scholarly and spiritually uplifting.
For the final two days, students take turns teaching small portions of a class, guided by the lead teacher. It’s on-the-ground practice in a supportive, low-pressure environment. The week ends with a certification ceremony, after which you'll be registered to teach yin yoga, sharing the peaceful style you've just lived for these seven days.
