Home › Retreats › 51-Day Yoga Teacher Training and Wellness Retreat in the Hills of Chiang Mai, Thailand
Chiang Mai · 51 days · From USD 4175
The program is built around a traditional syllabus that the school teaches back home in Rishikesh, India. Each day includes Hatha yoga asana classes, Ashtanga Vinyasa flow, pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, and lectures. You'll work through the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, learn the anatomy and physiology of yoga, and study Ayurveda. The teaching methodology part trains you to actually lead a class – you'll do practice teaching, get feedback, and learn how to structure a sequence.
The teachers are the highlight here. They were raised in ashrams in India and have deep personal practice. Dr. Nishant Tyagi is the lead instructor – he began yoga to heal from depression and now holds a 500-hour Yoga Alliance certification. Siddhesh Vishare focuses on the philosophy side, blending traditional Vedanta with modern psychology. They're patient and adaptable, and reviewers specifically mention how supportive they are with students who have learning difficulties.
The location plays a big part in the experience. The training takes place at Maewin Guesthouse & Resort, a Thai-style resort in the hills of Mae Win, Chiang Mai. The accommodation is in wooden bungalows, and the environment is peaceful – you'll be surrounded by mountains and greenery. There's one excursion built into the course to ancient temples and the mountains, plus a traditional Northern Thai dinner with a cultural show.
The school is a registered yoga school based in Rishikesh, India, and they send their teachers out to Thailand, Turkey, and other locations. This is their full 500-hour certification, which you can build on top of a 200-hour training, or do as a stand-alone intensive. Either way, be ready for a high level of commitment – attendance at 90% of the training hours is required to get certified.
