India · 55 days · From USD 2156
The 55-day, 500-hour Ashtanga teacher training at Om Yoga Shala in Agonda, Goa, is a serious, full-immersion course. It's built for people who already practice yoga regularly – ideally with some knowledge of Ashtanga – and who want to become qualified teachers. The curriculum is comprehensive: you'll study the full primary and intermediate series, learn traditional Sanskrit counting, explore the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, delve into anatomy and physiology, and get hands-on teaching practice. The teachers, led by Sanjeev Dutta (an engineer turned yogi with over 17 years of practice) and Shivani, focus on understanding yoga as a whole – not just aligning bodies but connecting breath, movement, and mind. Each day is structured but not rigid: the schedule allows time for self-study and rest, and the teaching is adapted to each student's body and capability. The shala's philosophy is expressed in its motto, 'Awareness through Asana' – they encourage self-awareness and self-exploration in practice, not blind adherence. This is a course that demands commitment but offers deep growth, set in a location that supports both focus and relaxation.
