6-Day Ayurvedic Wellness Escape: Yoga Therapy & Massage in Goa

India · 6 days · From USD 319

The six days follow a rhythm that stays roughly the same, which helps you drop into the practices quickly. Each morning begins with Shat-kriyas, traditional yogic cleansing rituals, followed by pranayama and a Yoga Asana practice. There is no vinyasa flow counting or physical challenge here — the teaching is therapeutic, working with what your body brings each day. After breakfast, the late morning rotates between a yoga philosophy talk, an Ayurveda lecture, and an Ayurvedic oil massage, so the theory and the hands-on work stay connected to each other.

The teaching staff is what stands out. Ayushi, one of the main yoga facilitators, is a 500-hour certified instructor from Rishikesh with twelve years of experience, and she teaches both the asana and the pranayama sessions. Her class style is steady and clear, with a strong emphasis on breath. Shrikant leads the philosophy sessions, which are grounded in Yoga and Vedanta texts and framed as conversations rather than lectures. Nandini, a fitness coach who runs the retreat's operations, also teaches movement sessions with an eye for alignment. Between them, the teaching covers a broad range — the physical practice, the breathwork, and the ideas behind why you do them.

The setting helps ease you into the slower pace. Mandrem is quieter than the southern beaches of Goa, with a handful of cafes and a long stretch of sand. The retreat center itself is set in a garden with a yoga shala, a small library, and open sitting areas. Meals happen together in the dining space, and there is a cooking class one evening if you want to learn how to make the food at home.

Your week also includes an excursion out of the property — a temple visit, a nature walk, or time on a quieter stretch of beach — depending on the schedule. One thing to note: this is not a performance-oriented retreat. The intention, repeated often by the hosts, is to work with your body and breath rather than push them. If you are after a demanding physical yoga holiday, this is not it.
