Home › Retreats › 6-Day Surf and Beginner Yoga Escape in Sintra, Portugal
Portugal · 6 days · From USD 750
The retreat runs for six days and five nights, with five days of surf instruction on the beaches around Sintra. Sessions are led by experienced instructors who split the group by ability, so genuine beginners get time on white water while anyone with a bit of experience can work on green waves and turning. Wetsuits and boards are sorted; you just need to turn up.
Three yoga sessions happen back at the house during the week, aimed at beginner level but fine for anyone who wants to stretch out after surfing. The deck is a calm spot with views over the countryside, and the sessions focus on the kind of mobility and balance that directly help you paddle and pop up. It's not an intense ashtanga bootcamp—it's yoga that complements the surfing.
Sintra's coastline is the real draw here. The town itself is a UNESCO World Heritage spot with the Pena Palace and Moorish Castle up on the hill, and the beaches below have consistent waves through the season. The house is somewhere between the two, so you get both the cultural sights and the surf. On days off or between sessions, there's time to explore the town, walk the cliffs at Cabo da Roca—the westernmost point of mainland Europe—or just sleep in and read by the pool.
The Peak House is run by brothers Diogo and Duarte, who grew up in the area and built the place specifically to share the local waves and lifestyle. You'll probably meet them at breakfast, and they're genuinely invested in everyone having a good time. Reviews mention the family atmosphere and the quality of the teaching again and again.
