6-Day Yoga and Snorkeling Holiday on Nusa Lembongan

6-Day Yoga and Snorkeling Holiday on Nusa Lembongan

Indonesia · 6 days · From EUR 445

The setup is simple. You stay in private bungalows on Tamarind Road on Nusa Lembongan, a quiet lane a short walk from the beach. Each bungalow has a king-size bed, and the property is built around a garden with the yoga shala at its centre. Breakfast is served on site each morning after the first class; lunch and dinner are either at the property or at the warungs and cafes along the waterfront, depending on what the group wants to do that day. Nusa Lembongan is small enough to walk or scooter around in an afternoon — the Yellow Bridge connects it to neighbouring Ceningan, and the mangrove forest on the north coast is worth a paddle. Most days follow the same loose shape: yoga at 7:30, breakfast at 9, free time until late afternoon, Yin yoga around 5:30, dinner after. The snorkeling trips run on two or three mornings, depending on conditions and the group's preference. A boat takes you out to the reef walls around Lembongan and across to Penida, with stops at Crystal Bay, Manta Point and Mangrove Point. You'll snorkel in 2–4 metre water over coral gardens, and if the mantas are around — they usually are between April and October — the boat will position you so you can watch them from the surface without chasing them. Turtles are common on the Lembongan side, particularly around the Blue Corner drop-off. All snorkeling gear is provided; if you have your own mask, bring it. This isn't a dive course and no certification is needed, but you should be comfortable in the water. If you're not, the crew will keep you close to the boat and there are plenty of shallow reef areas to start in. What separates this from a standard yoga retreat is that the yoga supports the rest of the day rather than being the whole point. The morning class is strong enough to wake you up — sun salutations, standing poses, some core work — while the evening Yin session is mostly floor-based holds of three to five minutes. The two together mean you're not stiff after a day of swimming, and you sleep well. The island itself is laid-back, with no traffic to speak of, good local food, and sunsets over the Lombok Strait that people gather on the beach to watch.
