Germany · 6 days · From USD 595
The training takes place at TAO - Total Art Oasis, a creative retreat center set in a nature reserve in the Black Forest. The property includes multiple practice spaces: a large studio for art and yoga, a white dome for meditation and small group work, and outdoor decks for practice in good weather. The surrounding forest and the nearby source of the Moselle river create a remote, quiet atmosphere that helps you switch off from daily life and focus inward.
Each day follows a rhythm of practice and study. Mornings start with yoga, pranayama, and meditation, then move into theory and teaching practice. Shir and Mariella break down Yoga Nidra into its parts—consciousness rotation, breath awareness, visualizations, and chakra work—so you understand not just the technique but the philosophy behind it. You'll practice teaching each other, giving and receiving feedback, and by the end of the week you'll leave with the confidence and a certification to run your own Yoga Nidra classes.
The course covers the five Koshas, five Pranas, and the main Nadis, the energy channels in the yogic body. You'll learn how Yoga Nidra works on the physical body, nervous system, and brain waves, and how to guide others through the practice safely and effectively. Evenings are for relaxation: an outdoor sauna, a bonfire with singing, and a guided massage session one night.
Shir Shemesh began his yoga journey with Sivananda training and later studied deeply with Sri Dharma Mittra, completing 800 hours of teacher training. He has over 15 years of teaching experience and leads trainings across Europe. Mariella trained in yoga therapy and Yin Yoga, and brings a softer, feminine approach to the teaching. She runs Satlaya Yoga School with Shir and is also a certified Ayurvedic practitioner, which shapes the healthy, cleansing food you'll have all week.
This is a small-group course, capped at 18 participants, which keeps the learning intimate. It's suitable for complete beginners—you don't need any yoga or meditation experience to attend. You'll come away with a daily Yoga Nidra practice you can sustain at home, and the skills to share it with others.
