Rishikesh · From INR 499
This 7-day, 50-hour Yin & Yang Yoga Teacher Training is held at Ishavasyam Yoga School in Tapovan, Rishikesh, in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is open to all levels, so whether you are coming to the mat as a curious beginner or as a seasoned practitioner, you will find a pace that welcomes you. If you are an existing RYT holder, it is worth knowing that the course is YACEP-eligible, so you can apply it toward your continuing education credits.
At the heart of the training is the balance between effort and surrender. You will move through dynamic Yang practice alongside deep, long-held Yin postures, giving you a felt understanding of both the active and the restful sides of yoga. Around this run aerial Yin restorative sessions, pranayama and meditation, a lifestyle Ayurveda session and a sound bath healing session. On completion you receive a 50-hour certificate from the school. Do note that this is not a Yoga Alliance registered course.
The setting is a peaceful residential space surrounded by greenery, offering a calm environment for rest and reflection. Your living space is kept distinct from your learning space, with a separate yoga hall just a short walk away, dedicated to classes and practices. The atmosphere is supportive and community-focused, and students often form close bonds over the week. You can choose between a private room, a shared twin room or a 4-bed dormitory; rooms are well-furnished with comfortable beds, private rooms have ensuite bathrooms, and all rooms have Wi-Fi access.
A day here blends the practical and the reflective. Mornings begin with asana practice followed by pranayama and meditation, before breakfast. The teaching moves through methodology and mantra, adjustment and alignment, Ashtanga Vinyasa and sessions in philosophy, giving you both the experience of practice and the tools to understand and teach it. Meals punctuate the day and are treated as part of the practice rather than a break from it. The week opens with a welcome orientation and a tour of the school, and closes with written and practical assessment, a closing ceremony and the presentation of your certificate.
Food is sattvic and vegetarian, served three times daily with herbal teas and snacks between sessions. Prepared according to Ayurvedic principles, meals are light and easy to digest to support your energy through intensive practice, with seasonal fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lentils and legumes, cooked with filtered water and organic ingredients where possible. Typical dishes include dal, rice, roti, vegetable curries and seasonal salads, and gluten-free and vegan options are available on request.
The residential course runs for 6 nights and includes your accommodation in your chosen room type, three sattvic meals a day, herbal tea and snacks, the aerial Yin restorative sessions, lifestyle Ayurveda session and sound bath, along with study materials and a certificate of completion. For twin-sharing and private room packages, airport pickup and drop-off are included too. Air-conditioning or a room heater is available at an additional charge, while visa fees, airfare and the taxi from Delhi or Haridwar are not included.
