Belgium · 7 days
Panchakarma means "five actions" in Sanskrit, and it is the classical Ayurvedic cleansing method — the one that has been used for thousands of years rather than the juice-cleanse version you find in a hotel spa. The full programme runs in three stages. First comes Purvakarma, where the body is prepared with oil massages, herbal baths and treatments that get digestion and circulation going. Then Pradhanakarma, the main cleansing phase, where the specific techniques are applied. Finally Paschatkarma, the recovery phase, where food, herbs and routine are used to rebuild and hold the results.
Depending on what your consultation identifies as the problem, the practitioner will select from the five classical techniques: Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya and Raktamokshana. These address different systems — the digestive and respiratory tract, the intestines, the colon, the nasal passages and the bloodstream — and they are not all given to everyone. Your programme is assembled around your own constitution and complaints, which is why the initial consultation matters and why the schedule is adapted as the days go on.
Expect one to two hours of treatment per day, plus daily meals. A typical day includes a treatment session in the morning, breakfast afterwards, rest or a yoga class, lunch, more free time, a second treatment or therapy where scheduled, and dinner in the evening. The centre also offers osteopathy and herbal support within the Raktamokshana approach. Guests commonly report fatigue, muscle aches or temporary digestive complaints partway through the week, and sometimes old emotions surfacing — the centre treats this as a normal part of the process and their therapists guide you through it.
What separates this from a general wellness retreat is that you are not left to guess. An Ayurvedic consultation opens the stay, the therapies are chosen and adjusted by practitioners, and the food is formulated to support each phase of the cleanse rather than being a generic healthy menu. The centre has been running these cures for years and offers spring, summer and autumn dates, with the published 2026 season running from mid-August through mid-December.
The setting itself is a Belgian wellness property with its own rooms, wellness facilities and treatment rooms, so everything happens in one place — you check in from 14:00 and do not need to travel between appointments. Rooms are deluxe, full board is included, and group yoga classes are available if you want to add movement to the programme. For anyone in Belgium or neighbouring countries who wants a real Panchakarma without flying to Kerala, this is about as close as it gets.
