Home › Retreats › 7-Day Coherence Meditation Retreat at Palm Garden, Thailand
Thailand · 7 days · From EUR 560
The retreat is seven days long and runs year-round, so you choose the dates rather than fitting into a fixed departure. Check-in is at 1pm on your arrival day. It's held at Palm Garden in Prachuap Khiri Khan, a coastal province about three hours south of Bangkok and just south of Hua Hin. The nearest airport is Hua Hin, and airport pickup can be arranged on demand.
Mornings usually start with guided meditation, followed by breakfast. The middle of the day is deliberately unscheduled — you can walk the garden, sit on your terrace, read, or rest. Afternoons typically include another guided session and time for reflective practice or one-to-one conversation with a facilitator if you want it. Evenings are quiet. This isn't a retreat that fills every hour; the point is to have enough space that you actually notice what's going on with you.
The approach is called coherence work, and it's more experiential than theoretical. You won't be handed a stack of techniques. Instead, the facilitators guide you through practices that help you settle into a more honest relationship with yourself and the people around you. The setting supports this — the garden is lush and unhurried, and the house you stay in is private enough that you can retreat to your own space when you need to.
The retreat is led by Joachim Scheuerer, who runs Palm Garden Retreat. He has a background in architecture, visual art, and therapeutic design, and he spent time as a Buddhist monk. His work draws on Eastern contemplative traditions, modern psychology, and field-based awareness models he co-developed. He's less interested in teaching you something new than in helping you see your next step more clearly.
This is a good fit if you're meditating already or are curious about starting, and you're less interested in collecting techniques than in arriving fully where you are. It suits people moving through transitions — grief, career shifts, relationship changes — or anyone with a quiet sense that something in them is ready to reorganize. All experience levels are welcome, and the minimum age is 18.
What makes this different from a standard meditation retreat is the focus on thresholds — the in-between moments where old patterns loosen. The week isn't about self-improvement in the usual sense. It's about pausing at the doorway of whatever comes next and crossing it with more steadiness. If you're looking for a structured program with certificates and daily lectures, this isn't that. If you want seven days of held space to think and feel clearly, it is.
