Rishikesh · 7 days · From USD 266
Each morning starts the same way: the alarm goes off at six, and you're on the mat by seven for pranayama, followed by an hour of yoga. The yoga is a blend of Ashtanga and Hatha, adapted to whoever's in the room—the teachers check levels and move through the sequences accordingly. After breakfast, there's a sound healing session, an hour of singing bowls and other instruments that gets you into a noticeably relaxed state. The afternoons are mostly yours, with an optional yoga class in the evening and meditation before dinner.
The actual schedule varies just enough to keep it interesting. Day one is easy—check in, lunch, then an evening trip to Ram Jhula and the Ganga Aarti, where you'll see the fire ceremony on the riverbank. Day three the whole group heads down to the Ganges for yoga and pranayama by the water. Day five you're up at four in the morning for the drive to Kunjapuri Temple, where you watch the sun come up over the Himalayas before heading back for breakfast. You'll also get some free time for shopping and poking around Rishikesh at your own pace.
The teaching team is a genuine strength. Pranjal Ji, an E-RYT 500 instructor with ten years' experience, leads a lot of the yoga and philosophy sessions—he's good at making Patanjali's sutras feel relevant. Shree Acharya Eknath Ji brings a background in Vedic studies and leads the spiritual discourses, while Shubham Uniyal Ji covers the more technical side like anatomy. They all rotate through the week, so you get different perspectives rather than one relentless voice.
The accommodation is simple but comfortable—air-conditioned rooms with attached bathrooms and mountain views, run by a team that keeps everything spotless. It's not a five-star hotel, but it doesn't need to be. You're here for yoga and to get away from it all, and the setting on a quiet hill does that job well.
Weather-wise, March, April, October, and November are the sweet spots. May and June get hot, July to September brings rain, and winter months (December and January) can get cold at night, so plan your packing accordingly.
