Home › Retreats › 7 Day Somatic Yoga and Nervous System Reset on Nicaragua's Pacific Coast
Nicaragua · 7 days · From USD 1982
Costa Dulce sits on a cliffside above Playa Escameca, a secluded cove where the jungle pours down to meet the Pacific. The property is built into the trees with open-air living, solar-warmed water, and ocean-view yoga shalas where the breeze moves through your practice. It's a fully off-the-grid eco sanctuary, which means no constant hum of electricity or wifi-enabled distractions—though there is wifi in the main areas if you need it. The rooms range from simple jungle cabins to a deluxe cliffside bungalow, all strung with hammocks and designed to keep you close to the sounds of the forest and the sea.
The daily rhythm is steady and simple. Mornings start with a sauna and cold plunge, followed by a morning yoga flow and meditation. The middle of the day is left open for rest, the beach, a surf lesson, a spa treatment, or a healing session. As the sun lowers, you return for a sunset yoga flow, another sauna and cold plunge round, and close with a yin or restorative session to carry you into sleep. Twice a day you move between heat and cold, which is both a physical reset and a way to anchor the deeper somatic and energy work.
Andrew Young leads the week. He's a Reiki Master Teacher and a 700-hour+ educated yoga therapist with a background in trauma-informed, therapeutic yoga. His approach blends somatic yoga, Reiki, psychic energy work, and breathwork into a container that feels safe and unhurried. He's also the founder of Rainbow Reiki Center in Las Vegas, and he volunteers with hospice care, which tells you something about the gentleness he brings to the work. He's joined by guests from his Las Vegas community, but the retreat is open to anyone—you'll be met at whatever level you arrive with.
Beyond the mat, the week includes a cacao ceremony in the main shala, a traditional temazcal sweat lodge, a jungle hike, a sea turtle talk at the on-site hatchery, a trip into the colorful town of San Juan del Sur, and evenings of live music, salsa dancing, and a beach bonfire. Meals are farm-to-table, grown on the land, and served at long communal tables. The food is plant-based with gluten-free options, and there's always fresh juice or a smoothie available at the beachside café. It's a rich, full week that balances deep stillness with genuine adventure and connection.
