7 Day Yoga, Aerial Cocooning & Sound Immersion Retreat in Madeira

The retreat is built around a daily rhythm that alternates between energetic and restorative practice. Each morning, you'll start with a Hatha Vinyasa class led by Cilene, designed to wake up the body and build strength. After the class, there's a brunch, and then the day opens up—some days include a guided hike, other days are free time.

The hikes are a notable part of the experience. Antoine, who has been a nature guide since 2000 and has worked with agencies like Terres d'Aventures and Nomade, leads them. He introduces Afghan Walking, a technique where you synchronize your steps with your breath, which turns a regular hike into a more meditative experience. The walks pass through Madeira's primary forest, along traditional levadas (irrigation channels), and to coastal viewpoints.

Afternoons are dedicated to Aerial Yoga, where you practice in hammocks suspended from the ceiling. The sessions are paired with Sound Baths, where singing bowls and other instruments are played while you rest in the hammock. These afternoon sessions are described as a time for deep release and relaxation, in contrast to the more active morning practice.

The food is vegetarian and made with local ingredients, with much of the produce coming from the garden at La Maison ZiaZen. The meal structure is lighter than a typical retreat—just a brunch and dinner—which the hosts say helps with the detox aspect of the week. There's also an optional extra night before or after the retreat, and you can book a 60-minute massage if you want extra relaxation.
