Home › Retreats › 7-Day Yoga and Fitness Retreat in Portugal's Dão Valley
Portugal · 7 days · From USD 980
The week at Oakstone Hills follows a gentle but structured rhythm. Each day begins at 8:00 AM with a 60-minute yoga session in the semi-open shala, where the valley view catches the morning light. Henriette, a 200-hour Yoga Alliance–certified Hatha-Vinyasa teacher, guides the class with a calm voice, adjusting to different levels. It's not about getting every pose perfect—it's about breathing, awareness, and connecting with your body. After yoga, brunch is served, much of it grown in the garden: eggs, vegetables, herbs, and fruit, often cooked in the traditional stone oven.
The late morning and early afternoon are free. Some guests head to the saltwater pool, others find a quiet corner with a book, and a few walk into the village or along the dirt roads. At 3:30 PM there's a regeneration session—often an ice bath, which guests say is refreshing and surprisingly pleasant after a workout. At 6:00 PM, Kilian leads the functional training session in the outdoor fitness container. The container is fully equipped with kettlebells, battle ropes, sleds, and more, and Kilian mixes it up daily: circuit training, group challenges, and partner workouts. It's challenging but scalable, and the energy is motivating.
Dinner is at 7:30 PM, a creative, wholesome meal that guests describe as a highlight. The food is seasonal, mostly from the property, and the stone oven turns out dishes like homemade pizza that guests rave about. After dinner, there's an evening gathering—reflection, sharing, or just sitting together by the fireplace on cooler evenings. Wednesdays are free, with no scheduled sessions, so you can sleep in, explore, or arrange an excursion. The hosts can help with trips to Coimbra, Lisbon, or Porto, surf lessons, or wine tasting in the Dão region. The balance is what makes it work: enough structure to feel purposeful, enough freedom to truly switch off.
