7-Day Yoga and Hiking Retreat in Sedona's Red Rocks

United States · 7 days · From USD 1595

The week runs for seven days, with arrival from 3pm and a schedule that alternates trail time with yoga. Mornings typically start with breakfast at the retreat centre — a buffet of oatmeal, eggs, granola, cereal, nuts, seeds, nut butters, breads, dairy and non-dairy milks, fresh fruit, flax, hemp, coffee and tea — before heading out to hike. Roy and Liz drive everyone to the trailheads in the van, so you're not arranging your own transport. Hikes are paced for the group and take in Sedona's vortex sites and other sacred landmarks.

Afternoons often include yoga, meditation or breathwork back at Transformation Home. Roy teaches a gentle, body-friendly hatha style he calls "Sacred Slow Flow" — slow, breath-connected movement with mindful pauses. He also leads pranayama and mindfulness meditation focused on breath awareness, heart opening and emotional clearing. Liz may lead sound or vibration healing sessions, and she reads astrology, Human Design and the Gene Keys for guests who are interested.

Evenings are for dinner. Most meals are included — two or three a day — and Roy and Liz cook many of them themselves. They usually eat out one night for Thai, one night for gourmet Mexican, and one night at a health food place that's typical of Sedona. On other evenings you can cook at the retreat centre if you'd rather save money. The retreat centre is about 10 minutes from downtown Sedona, so it's easy to walk in if you want to explore.

What makes this different from a standard Sedona yoga week is the length of Roy and Liz's connection to the area. Twenty years of returning with groups means they know which sites to visit and when to avoid crowds. The whole retreat centre is reserved for your group, so it feels private rather than shared with other guests. And the yoga is explicitly gentle — this isn't a fitness bootcamp, it's a week of walking and slow movement in a landscape people come to for its quiet.

Getting there is straightforward if you fly into Phoenix. A van shuttle picks you up from Phoenix if you arrive before 11am on the Sunday, and return transport is arranged for flights departing no earlier than 2pm. If you're driving, Roy and Liz will give you the address — it's about 10 minutes from downtown Sedona.
