Kathmandu
Each day of this retreat blends different healing modalities, giving you a comprehensive experience of what natural medicine can do. Mornings start with a cleansing kriya, followed by a yoga and pranayama session to wake up the body and focus the mind. The daily yoga styles vary—Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa, and Yogasana with Om chanting—taught by experienced instructors. After a hearty yogic breakfast, you'll alternate between meditation, Reiki, crystal healing, and techniques like Tai Chi and Yoga Nidra.
The massage therapy is a core part of this retreat, and it's where the Institute truly shines. You'll receive a different therapeutic massage each day, including Ayurvedic healing massage, relaxation massage, hot-stone massage, deep tissue massage, and a traditional Thai massage. There's also a session on foot reflexology and a special trekkers massage after your hike. These are performed by trained therapists and are designed to release tension and promote deep relaxation.
A key highlight is the focus on sound healing and energy work. You'll have dedicated sessions for healing the third eye and crown chakras, Tibetan singing bowl therapy, and sound healing massage. These are led by Swami Ji Manhal Tousis, a certified Reiki Master and experienced sound healer. His sessions are described by guests as life-changing, combining ancient practices with a welcoming teaching style.
The retreat also includes a day dedicated to nature—a guided hike to Shivapuri National Park, offering beautiful views and a break from the urban environment. After the hike, you'll enjoy a well-deserved trekkers massage. The location itself, the Institute of Natural Medicine, is an accredited academic institution in Nepal, which adds a level of credibility and depth to the program. Guests consistently praise the peaceful garden setting, the quality of the food (especially the cheeseballs), and the knowledgeableness of the teachers.
