Home › Retreats › 8-Day Holistic Yoga and Wellness Escape in Fuerteventura
Canary Islands · 8 days · From USD 980
The retreat blends two complementary yoga styles to create a week that moves between energy and stillness. Flow yoga, the yang side, builds heat and strength with dynamic sequences, while yin yoga works deep into the connective tissues with slow, meditative poses held for longer. Each class runs for an hour, and there are four of each across the week, so you get a full practice without being on the mat all day. The teachers adapt every session to the level of the group, so beginners get the guidance they need and advanced practitioners are still challenged.
What makes this week different is the tai chi and qigong component. Paco Borges, who has taught for 22 years, leads a two-hour outdoor session at a volcano crater, combining movement, breath, and meditation in a setting that feels a long way from a studio. He also offers two acupuncture sessions and one auriculotherapy session (using seeds on the ear) as part of the package — a level of integrated traditional Chinese medicine you don't usually find on a yoga retreat. Guests have described the morning tai chi as a fantastic start to the day and an opportunity to connect with the world and themselves.
The retreat is held at Villa Azul, a purpose-built property in Villaverde, a traditional Canarian village on the northern tip of Fuerteventura. The island is known for its sunshine, endless beaches, and volcanic landscapes. The villa has a pool, a garden with a Buddha garden area, a yoga deck, and views towards the sea and the neighbouring island of Lanzarote. From the peaks nearby, you can see the 'Three Island View' of the dunes park, Lanzarote, and Lobos Island. It's a peaceful, home-like setting, and the small number of guests means you get personal attention from the team.
The package includes four vegan brunches and four vegan dinners prepared by chef Victor, using locally sourced organic ingredients where possible. Each meal is three courses: starter, main, and dessert. Guests are vocal about the quality — one called every course of every meal sensational. There are also plenty of free hours to swim, read, or wander into Corralejo or El Cotillo, both reachable by bus from the village. The week ends feeling properly rested, with some structure to take home with you.
