Home › Retreats › 8 Day Shamanic Yoga New Year's Reset in Nicaragua
Nicaragua · 8 days · From USD 862
This retreat is built around the Chakana, the Inka Cross, a sacred symbol representing the Southern Cross and the three worlds of Andean cosmology. Over the eight days, you'll explore these worlds through the spirit animals — the Serpent (letting go), the Puma (facing fears), and the Condor (expanding consciousness). Ceremonies include chakra balancing, tea ceremonies, cacao ceremonies, shamanic drumming, breathwork, flower baths, and ancestral herbalism, each one facilitated with respect for the old traditions.
Anthony Alcalde, your host and teacher, brings a blend of his Peruvian and Nicaraguan heritage to the practice. He's been teaching since 1998 and is a 500E-RYT and AcroYoga certified instructor. He's also a filmmaker and public speaker, which gives his teaching a creative, socially-conscious edge. Expect a personalized experience — Anthony adapts the schedule to the group's needs, ensuring every participant feels supported.
The setting is uniquely peaceful. Masaya is a town rich in indigenous culture, yet the retreat center feels like a private natural sanctuary. You're surrounded by mango, avocado, and coconut trees, and the simmering Masaya Volcano and the serene Laguna de Apoyo are close by. It's a place that invites introspection and a slower pace, ideal for a reset.
This is a retreat for anyone ready to do real inner work, not a vacation with yoga thrown in. Days are full but unhurried, with time for rest and personal reflection. The group is small — between 2 and 5 guests — so it feels more like a gathering of friends than a retreat program.
