Home › Retreats › 8-Day Surf Week in Tamraght: Coached Sessions on Morocco's Atlantic Coast
Morocco · 8 days · From EUR 550
Days here run on the tide chart rather than the clock. You wake up, eat a Moroccan breakfast on the terrace, and the team tells you where the surf is best that morning. That decision changes day to day: a gentle beach break for first-timers, a reeling point break for people who already stand up and want to turn. You pile into the transport, surf for three to five hours with a coach in the water correcting your paddle timing and pop-up, then drive back to camp for lunch.
The camp sits in the heart of Tamraght, a short walk from the village and close to the region's best waves. It's a surf school, surf camp and Moroccan restaurant rolled into one, run by a small local team. Because lessons, food and beds are all under one roof, there's no logistics to think about — you show up and surf.
What sets Tamraght apart is the sheer variety of waves within a short drive. Devil's Rock and Crocro Beach are forgiving sand-bottom breaks where beginners catch their first green waves. Banana Point and Anchor Point are the famous right-hand point breaks that improvers and advanced surfers come to Morocco for. And Imsouane, an hour up the coast, offers one of the longest rides in the country. The coaches pick the spot each day based on conditions, so you're always surfing waves that match where you're at.
The retreat is run by Mohcine, who founded the project and manages the team of local instructors. He works with experienced Moroccan coaches who specialise in surfing and makes sure every guest — whether it's your first time standing up or you're chasing steeper sections — gets safe, personal lessons.
Surf conditions shift through the year. Autumn to spring brings bigger swells that suit intermediate and advanced surfers; summer waves are smaller and gentler, which is ideal for learning. Either way, the coaches choose the spot of the day to match the swell, the wind and your ability. Atlantic water runs cooler than the Med, so a wetsuit comes with your stay.
Afternoons are deliberately open. Some guests nap off a long session, others head out on a coastal excursion or wander into the village. Evenings end with dinner on the terrace and the sun going down over the ocean.
