9-Day Wellness Retreat in Rishikesh: Yoga, Meditation & Ayurveda

Rishikesh · 9 days · From USD 517

The retreat is held at Yogpeeth Rishikesh, an ashram-style school run by the same team as Rishikesh Yoga Ashram. You check in on Day 1 and immediately step into a structured routine: morning pranayama (breathwork), a lengthy asana class, breakfast, then workshops or free time before lunch and afternoon sessions. Evenings finish with meditation or mantra chanting. The schedule is designed to be immersive without being exhausting—there's plenty of time to rest, read, or walk to the nearby Ganges.

Each day, you'll rotate through different yoga styles. Hatha classes build foundational postures and alignment, while Ashtanga sessions link breath to movement for a more vigorous workout. Holistic yoga sessions aim to balance mind, body, and spirit, and there are also Shatkarma sessions—traditional cleansing practices that are rarely taught outside India. Pranayama classes focus on control of the breath, and meditation sessions introduce techniques like yog nidra and mantra repetition.

The Ayurveda component is woven through the week with dedicated classes on the doshas (vata, pitta, kapha) and how to eat and live according to your constitution. A highlight is the complimentary one-to-one consultancy with an Ayurvedic doctor, who'll assess your dosha and give personalized recommendations. The food is sattvic—vegetarian, freshly cooked, and designed to balance the doshas—and every meal is served buffet-style in the ashram's dining hall.

Outside class, you can explore Rishikesh's famous landmarks like the Laxman Jhula bridge and the Triveni Ghat evening aarti ceremony. The ashram can also arrange optional activities like ayurvedic massages, additional treatments, or a white-water rafting trip on the Ganges. One afternoon is left unscheduled so you can rest or sightsee on your own.

What really sets this retreat apart is the depth of the teaching. The instructors aren't just flexible people who can guide a class—they're dedicated practitioners with decades of combined experience. Founder Yogi Arvind Negi studied in Haridwar, Guru Keshav Dev Ji has spent 15 years at pilgrimage sites, and Dr. Shubham is a qualified Ayurvedic doctor. You leave with a solid foundation in the theory and practice of yoga and Ayurveda, plus a clear sense of how to keep it up when you return home.
