Home › Retreats › 9-Day Yoga, Breathwork & Ceremony Immersion in Bali's Rice Terraces and Coast
Indonesia · 9 days · From USD 1930
The retreat runs for 9 days and moves between two locations. Days 1–5 are at KusFarm Eco Resort, a working permaculture farm about 20 minutes from Ubud. You sleep in simple eco-cottages with fans and mosquito nets, wake to birds, and practise in a bamboo shala overlooking the rice terraces. The morning block is usually 90 minutes of Hatha yoga with Lisa, followed by pranayama. After breakfast there's a workshop or embodiment session — sometimes partner work, sometimes journaling, sometimes a silent walk through the paddies. Afternoons are free until a late-afternoon breathwork or Yin class. Evenings are quieter: kirtan, fire ceremony, or a sharing circle.
On day 5 the group moves to Rejuvenate Beachfront, a smaller property right on the black-sand coast in West Bali. The practices shift accordingly — sunrise yoga on the deck, breathwork to the sound of the waves, and a water blessing led by a local Balinese priest. The ocean here is rough and not great for swimming, but the beach walks at low tide are long and empty. The final two days are more inward: extended meditation, a closing ceremony, and time to write or rest.
What makes this one different from a standard yoga retreat is the ceremony element. Lisa and Raphael work with a Balinese priest who leads a Melukat (water purification) and a fire ceremony on the beach. These aren't performances for guests — they're the real thing, done with permission from the local village. If you're not comfortable with that, this isn't the right retreat. If you are, it's the part most people remember.
Lisa and Raphael have been teaching together since 2014. Lisa trained in Hatha and Kundalini in Rishikesh and has a background in somatic therapy; Raphael is a breathwork facilitator certified through Oxygen Advantage and has run men's circles in Bali for years. They live on the island and work with the same Balinese team each time, which is why the ceremonies feel integrated rather than tacked on.
Group size is kept small — usually around 12 — so there's room for individual attention and for the group to actually bond. The schedule has enough space that you're not exhausted, but it's not a holiday where you do nothing. Most people come solo, and by day three the group is usually eating meals together and swimming in the afternoons. The food is vegetarian, mostly grown at KusFarm, and they'll work around allergies if you tell them in advance.
