Home › Retreats › Adriatic Beach Yoga Retreat: 10 Days of Practice and Ayurvedic Massage in Misano Adriatico
Italy · 10 days · From EUR 900
The setting is Misano Adriatico, a small seaside town in the Province of Rimini on Italy's Adriatic coast, about 9 km from Rimini airport. The yoga studio is inside Hotel Arno on Via Sicilia, and most classes, workshops and teacher training sessions take place there. Depending on the season, guests stay at either Hotel Arno (roughly 10 May to 10 September) or Hotel Ariston (April until about 10 May, and 10 September until 1 November) — both in the same family-owned hotel group, both about 50 metres from the beach. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in one of the group's hotels or at a beachfront restaurant, weather depending.
A typical day runs like this: morning yoga, breakfast, free time through the middle of the day, afternoon yoga, then dinner. Sunday is a rest day from classes. Pranayama and meditation sessions are built into the schedule. The teaching comes from traditional Indian yoga — Timea Vitez trained in Rishikesh and spent six continuous months studying there across three 200-hour teacher trainings, later completing a 300-hour advanced training. She is the lead teacher and co-founder of YogaMea School, and was the first woman invited to teach on the faculty at Rishikesh Yogpeeth.
Two Ayurvedic massages are part of the package, and they're a real part of the week rather than an afterthought — most guests book one early on to settle in and one later. Yoga mats and all practice equipment are provided, so you don't need to pack any.
Food is a bigger deal here than at most yoga retreats. A professional chef prepares everything, and the menu follows the Mediterranean diet with fresh, seasonal ingredients: a large salad buffet at every meal service, fresh vegetables and fruit, pasta and rice dishes, vegetarian specialities, and homemade desserts. Vegetarian is the default because of the yogic tradition, but meat and fish are available at lunch and dinner at no extra charge. Vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free needs can be accommodated — just tell the kitchen before you arrive. Note that the kitchen is not a dedicated gluten-free facility, so guests with coeliac disease or severe allergies should raise it at booking.
Meals are communal, and that's deliberate: guests from different countries eat together at long tables, which tends to be how people end up with walking companions for the afternoon. Everything you need — beach, restaurants, cafes, shops, supermarket, railway station — is within walking distance, so a car isn't necessary.
