Home › Retreats › Algarve Wellness & Detox Retreat: Yoga, Walking, Spa and Plant-Based Reset
Portugal · 7 days · From EUR 1450
A typical day starts early, before the heat: a guided walk through the valleys and along the coast, or a yoga session on the terrace depending on the day's schedule. Breakfast follows — juices and light dishes if you are on a fasting programme, something more substantial if you booked the wellness option. Mid-morning is usually when the sport session sits, and after that there are treatments, the sauna, or time by the pool and in the garden.
Afternoons are largely free. Guests walk into the nearby villages, read on the terrace, book a massage or spa treatment, or take the short trip to the beach and the cliffs. Late afternoon often brings a second yoga class or a meditation session, sometimes on the rooftop. Dinner is cooked by the in-house kitchen team and is plant-forward: soups, vegetable dishes, and things like a raw lasagne or a vegan quiche, with a turmeric latte as an evening option. The kitchen also publishes recipes so you can repeat dishes at home.
What separates this from a standard spa break is the food programme. You choose between a juice fast, a mild fast and a general wellness plan, and the kitchen cooks differently for each — one guest described balanced daily meals that were both tasty and nutritious on the mild-fast plan, and another mentioned supplements, teas and herbs as part of a fuller reset. That structure is why people come back: several reviews mention booking the following year before leaving.
The setting is the Algarve, and the two houses — Vila Mimosa and Casa Conmigo — sit among valleys close to the coast, with sea views from parts of the properties. It is a short distance to beaches, small villages and cliff walks, which is where the morning walks often head.
The team is not built around one famous instructor. It is a group that has been running these retreats for more than two decades, with cooks, therapists and activity leaders. A handful of weeks each year are handed over to outside organisers — yoga teachers and health professionals — who bring their own programme and use the houses and kitchen team, so the exact teacher varies by week.
Reviews lean heavily on the same few things: the food, the personal attention, the morning walks, rooftop meditation, and the fact that you can do as much or as little as you like. Guests have mentioned everything from yoga and hiking to belly-dancing lessons, alongside treatments and long lunches under the Portuguese sun.
