Home › Retreats › Algarve Yoga Escape: Daily Vinyasa, Plant-Based Food & Coastal Hikes in Portugal
Portugal · 5 days · From USD 3499
A typical day starts between 7 and 8am with an optional session of meditation, breathwork and chanting. That rolls straight into a 90-minute vinyasa practice at 8am. Breakfast runs from 9:30 to 11, and it's a slow, quiet meal. From 11am to 2pm there are optional training sessions on things like posture clinics, anatomy and sequencing — you can walk into any of them or spend the morning by the pool instead. Lunch is at 2pm, then personal time until 5, when there might be a lecture. The evening session from 5 to 7 could be movement, meditation or philosophy, and dinner is at 7. If none of that appeals, you can spend the whole day exploring.
What separates this from a standard yoga holiday is the flexibility on length. You can book 5 days or 14 days at the same nightly rate, and you don't have to lock in your exact departure date when you book — you can adjust it as your plans come together. That's unusual. Most retreats sell fixed weeks.
The other difference is who's on the property. Because the retreat runs alongside a Yoga Alliance-registered teacher training, you're sharing meals and practice spaces with trainees from around the world, mostly in their 20s to 60s. Some weeks have several retreat guests; some weeks have almost none. If you want a retreat where you're surrounded only by other holidaymakers, this isn't that. If you don't mind a mixed group and want access to the training sessions without the homework, it works well.
Liz and Naga run the programme. Guests repeatedly mention them by name in reviews — the tone of the feedback is that they create a non-judgemental room where people of different body types and experience levels can practise. One reviewer specifically called out that Liz teaches that "yoga can fit the body" rather than pushing everyone toward a perfect pose.
The location does a lot of the work. The estate sits outside Loulé, a market town in the Algarve with a Mediterranean climate — 20–26°C in spring and autumn, 30°C+ in summer, and mild 15–18°C winters. Faro airport is about 25 minutes by taxi or Uber, and Loulé train station is 15 minutes away. Coastal hikes along the Algarve cliffs, the Loulé weekend market, nearby beaches and natural parks, and local wine tastings are all within reach on your own schedule.
