All-Inclusive Surf and Yoga Retreats in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Barbados

Costa Rica · 7 days

A typical day starts early, because the best waves usually are. You head out with your group and a coach for a surf session in uncrowded water, with feedback given as you go rather than saved up for the end of the week. Back on land there is breakfast, then time to rest, swim or read before the next block of activity.

Afternoons mix it up. Some days that means restorative yoga, some days breathwork or mobility training, some days an easy hike or a cultural outing. The point of these lower-impact sessions is to keep your body working well enough to surf again tomorrow, and they are scheduled around the surf rather than competing with it.

What separates this from a standard surf camp is the level of support in the water. Coaching is pitched at gentle encouragement and constructive feedback, and the waves are chosen to be uncrowded so you get room to actually practise. Beginners get a safe environment to learn in; more experienced surfers get help with technique and, if it is on your list, your first barrel.

Food is a big part of the week. Meals are cooked with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and traditional recipes, and everyone eats together around the table. Dietary preferences and restrictions are catered for — you just need to say in advance.

Accommodation is included in the price and varies by destination, but the standard is consistent: comfortable rooms with the thoughtful touches of a boutique hotel, in a setting that stays down to earth. You are not roughing it, and you are not in a resort that happens to have surfboards either.

The four destinations each have their own character. Nicaragua is the Land of Lakes and Volcanoes, Costa Rica combines rich biodiversity and lush landscapes with dreamy waves, Guatemala adds its own landscape and culture to the mix, and Barbados offers a Caribbean alternative to the Central American options.
