Switzerland · 7 days
A typical day at Camp Suisse is packed. Campers are kept busy with a rotating programme of alpine activities — climbing, biking, camping and banana boating are named — alongside excursions into Swiss culture and local events. The camp also runs a language tuition programme, so part of the day is spent in lessons.
What sets this camp apart is its location across some of Switzerland's most spectacular alpine villages, which lets it run an outdoor adventure programme while using Switzerland's position as a cultural crossroads for the language side. Trips include skiing down a glacier and soaking up the Montreux Jazz Festival on the shores of Lake Geneva.
The camp has been running since 2005 and describes itself as being at the forefront of developing a leading activity programme. It offers summer camps, summer day camps, ski and snowboard camps, and year-round outdoor education camps for schools and groups.
Staff are described as dedicated and qualified, and the camp says it works to develop team-work, open-mindedness, enquiry, perseverance, compassion, balance, resilience and reflection in every young person. The programme encourages campers to challenge themselves, take risks, be innovative, enjoy learning, make mistakes and try again.
One parent review quoted on the page says: "The children love the camp, it's becoming their 'summer home'. We have an amazing feeling of security and ease knowing our children are with you. We love how homely and personal Camp Suisse is and the activities and excursions are excellent – it really is a unique camp."
