Alpine Yoga & Adventure Week in the French Alps

Alpine Yoga & Adventure Week in the French Alps

French Alps · 7 days · From EUR 1850

Adventure Yogi offers a collection of yoga retreats in the French Alps across two locations: La Rosière in the Tarentaise Valley and Samoëns in the Grand Massif. Each place has its own character, but the format is the same — daily yoga, outdoor activity, and vegetarian food, with enough free time that you don't feel herded.

La Rosière has been an Adventure Yogi location for years and is the one to pick if you want a resort base with modern wellness facilities, sweeping mountain views and easy access to nature. It sits at 1,850m and is sunny, which matters in winter and even more in summer. Winter weeks here are built around skiing and snowboarding; summer weeks swap the lifts for hiking, mountain biking, white-water rafting and paragliding. The resort is a favourite for both seasons, so the winter dates sell out and return the following year.

Samoëns is newer to the collection. It's a more traditional alpine village, and the retreat base is a restored farmhouse with a dedicated yoga space, sauna, hot tub and gardens. If you want the postcard version of the Alps rather than a purpose-built resort, this is the one. It also works for both winter ski trips and summer trail access, so you can book it in either season.

The daily rhythm doesn't change much between locations. Yoga in the morning before you head out, breakfast, then the mountain — skiing, hiking, biking or rafting depending on the season. Afternoon yoga or free time, dinner, early night. The food is vegetarian and protein-rich, designed to actually fuel you rather than leave you hungry after a day on the hill. All retreats include wellness facilities and guidance throughout your stay, and classes are open to complete beginners as well as people who've practised for years.

What separates this from a standard chalet week is the structure around the yoga. You're not just booking a room in a ski resort and hoping to find a class; the yoga teacher, the meals and the activity suggestions are part of the package. Equally, it's not a silent meditation retreat — you can ski hard all day, or you can spend the afternoon in the sauna and read. Both are acceptable here.

Travel is straightforward by train from the UK and other parts of Europe, and Adventure Yogi encourages it as the lower-impact option. Yoga mats are provided at the venue; if you want blocks, straps or anything else, bring them. La Rosière winter weeks run from £1599 for seven nights, and the summer walking and yoga week in Samoëns is from £1799 for seven nights.
