Peru · 14 days · From USD 1521
This 200-hour teacher training covers far more than asana. Each day includes two asana practices—an energetic Vinyasa flow in the morning and a slower Yin class in the afternoon—plus dedicated sessions on pranayama, meditation, anatomy, philosophy, and teaching methodology. You'll break down over 80 classical postures, learn hands-on adjustments and verbal cueing, and start teaching from day one, starting with small groups and building up to full classes by the end of the fortnight.
The curriculum is rooted in the classical texts: you'll study Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika alongside modern anatomy and biomechanics. There are also practical sessions on the business of yoga—how to market yourself, choose between studio employment and freelancing, and handle insurance—so you're prepared for the realities of teaching after you leave.
What sets this training apart is the location. The lodge sits in the jungle outside Moyobamba, with the first purpose-built yoga shala in town. The property grows its own fruit, has a pool, and is visited daily by hummingbirds, toucans, and monkeys. Several sessions take place entirely outdoors: you'll canoe through the Tingana wetlands to practice on a riverbank, visit the Waqanki hummingbird sanctuary, and take part in a karma yoga afternoon teaching children in the local community.
Daily rhythms include shatkarma cleansing techniques, pranayama, meditation, and Yoga Nidra, plus a sound therapy session using Tibetan and Andean instruments. You'll receive a one-on-one mentorship session with an instructor for feedback on your growth, and every student gets a $200-value post-retreat integration call after going home.
Graduates leave with a 200-hour certificate from Moksha Yoga Amazónica, a Registered Yoga School with the Yoga Alliance, plus a separate 20-hour continuing education certificate in Ayurvedic self-care. The training is led by a small team of international teachers—recent programs have been led by instructors like Michelle, Danni, and Victoria—who each bring their own style, so you get exposure to different approaches to teaching within one immersive two weeks.
