Finland · 1 days
Kakslauttanen sits in northern Finnish Lapland, about 250km above the Arctic Circle, on the edge of Urho Kekkonen National Park. The resort is best known for its glass igloos — you lie in bed and watch the aurora through the roof — plus log cabins and a snow igloo village that's rebuilt each winter. The wellness programme runs alongside all of that.
Yoga is offered in the morning and afternoon, for individuals or groups. Sessions are calming and energising rather than hard-core vinyasa, and you can book them as one-offs or as part of a longer retreat package. Sound healing is the other main offering — a concert format where you lie down and let the vibrations of the bowls do the work, or a private sound bowl massage for two if you want something quieter.
For couples there's an Arctic Tantra workshop, which is a guided session focused on connection. There's also a private sound healing session for couples. These are add-ons you book through the resort's events team, not a fixed daily timetable.
What sets this apart from a standard yoga retreat is that the wellness is a layer on top of an Arctic adventure resort. You might do yoga in the morning, go snowmobiling or husky sledding in the afternoon, then have a sauna and a sound healing session before dinner. The resort also hosts workshops and larger retreats that combine nature activities with silence and wellness, so if you're organising a group you can build something bespoke rather than picking from a set week.
The resort is operated by Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort Oy. Note that these wellness services are not sold as an all-inclusive retreat package with accommodation and meals bundled — you book your stay and then add the wellness activities you want. It's a wellness-focused stay rather than a fixed retreat itinerary.
