India · 7 days
The programme splits into three blocks that run alongside each other for the whole stay: Preventative Medicine, Physical Restoration, and Healing Nourishment. On a 5-night stay that means one Ayurveda or Yoga Kriya consultation, a Naadi Pareeksha (Prakruthi and Viktruthi analysis), two body composition analyses, one hydro colon session, two cupping or moxibustion treatments, a lung detox nebulisation, infrared sauna as prescribed, a physio fitness appraisal with gait analysis, one detox nutrition consultation, and one wellbeing culinary session. Longer stays scale these up — 7 nights adds the spectrophotometry heavy-metals test and doubles the signature rituals; 14 nights doubles the hydro colon sessions, adds a Havan for mind detox and a skin cleansing therapy.
The treatment side draws on Ayurveda and on newer wellbeing practices, and the list is longer than most detox programmes bother with: traditional signature rituals like Sahyadri or manual lymphatic drainage, bio energy therapy (a detox body scrub or elemental bio energy therapy), and body healing therapies including thermal etho massage, marma, chakra balancing or Tibetan Ku Nye. Emotional balance and spiritual harmony sessions run as prescribed — wellbeing talks or meditation, and yogasana, laghushanka prakshalana or pranayama — alongside one-off sessions like clay moulding, a guided forest walk or sound healing. Sadhyo virechana with an Ayurveda herbal steam bath is scheduled as prescribed.
What separates this from a standard spa detox is the assessment layer. You're not handed the same timetable as everyone else — the heavy metals and toxicity screening, the pulse analysis and the body composition readings feed into what your week actually looks like, and your practitioners adjust from there. The doctors and specialists also cover the nutrition side, working through a micro and macro view of your diet so the food changes make sense rather than just being rules.
On the food, Dharana's approach is to rest the gut briefly and then feed it properly. The idea is that a simple, wholesome diet lowers inflammation and rebalances gut pH, which in turn supports gut flora, colon health, the liver, and the lymphatic system. Daily detox infusions and dosha-blend or customised meals run throughout, and the culinary session shows you how the food is made so you can repeat it at home.
Dharana at Shillim sits in a forested valley in the Sahyadri range — the Shillim Peak trek on the schedule is the property's own backyard. It's a dedicated wellbeing destination rather than a hotel with a spa attached, which is why the programme includes consultations, testing and a take-home plan. Age-wise, guests over 17 can book programmes of 5 nights or more.
