Home › Retreats › Ayurvedic Wellness Escape for Sleep & Stress Relief on Vembanad Lake, India
Kerala · 10 days · From USD 1054
The retreat is structured around four pillars, and they're all woven into every day. First, a customised Ayurvedic diet: dosha-pacifying foods, mono-diet meals like khichdi, controlled portions, and herbal teas throughout the day. Second, authentic therapies — the full range of Panchakarma detoxification and rejuvenation practices, from Abhyanga oil massage and Shirodhara to Swedana and Udvartana, with more intensive procedures like Vamana, Virechana, Basti, and Nasya available if the doctor recommends them. Third, the daily routine (Dincharya), which includes sleep hygiene, waking early, and guided yoga, pranayama, and meditation. And fourth, Rasayana therapy — herbal tonics and treatments to boost vitality and immunity, given as needed.
There are no standardised treatment plans here. You meet with the resident doctor at the start, and they map out your therapies, meals, medications, and daily routine based on your body's constitution and what's actually going on with you. That consultation happens again during your stay so the plan adjusts as your body responds. It's proper Ayurveda, not a watered-down version for tourists, and it means your week looks different from anyone else's.
The team is led by experienced practitioners. Dr. Devi S. Nair, the Yogic Healer, brings over a decade of experience in Ayurveda-yoga based mind-body healing, with a focus on emotional imbalances, stress, and behavioural patterns — she's the one who runs the counselling sessions and guides the inner work. Dr. Renjith, the Lead Consulting and Resident Doctor, has more than a decade of clinical experience and handles the classical diagnostics and Panchakarma treatments. There's also Dr. Remya (16+ years, women's health) and Dr. Shuchita (18+ years, digestive and stress-related disorders). Yoga classes are led by Anil, a certified instructor trained in both Hatha and Ashtanga, who adapts each session to suit guests undergoing treatments.
Guests consistently rate the retreat 4.9 out of 5 across 48 reviews, with particular praise for the location on the lake, the efficiency of the doctors, the warmth of the staff, and the quality of the food. Many note that they arrived stressed and left feeling lighter — that's the promise here, and it's one the team seems to deliver on with genuine care.
