Home › Retreats › Ayurvedic Wellness Escape with Daily Yoga in Phuket
Thailand · 8 days · From USD 2488
The core of this retreat is the Ayurvedic program, and it starts with a proper consultation. On day one you meet Dr. Nezeem Kadavil Uthuman, the on-site Ayurvedic physician. He trained in Kerala and has worked at the Sitaram Ayurveda Hospital and with Kama Ayurveda in India. He uses Nadi Pariksha — pulse diagnosis — to assess your physical and mental state, then prescribes one of four programs: Chaitanya (detox and lightness), Ojasi (rejuvenation and anti-aging), Shodhana (deep purification), or Sandhi (joint care). Each program has its own sequence of treatments.
The daily treatments are substantial — typically 90 to 120 minutes. You'll choose from options like Pizhichil (warm oil poured over the body), Shirodhara (a steady stream of medicated oil on the forehead), Abhyanga (full-body oil massage), or Navarakizhi (warm rice poultices pressed over the body). The therapist works according to what the doctor prescribed, rather than a set menu. There's also a daily herbal steam or powdered scrub on most programs, and the final days include something like a purgation or enema, depending on your program — the page is honest that day six involves a cleanse with no breakfast or lunch.
Yoga happens twice a day, in the morning and afternoon, at the Prana Yoga Shala. The teachers are Koong Jiraphorn, who trained in Rishikesh and teaches Vinyasa Flow, and Ann, who covers Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Aerial yoga. Classes are small and gentle enough for beginners, with a focus on stretching and breath work that supports the Ayurvedic treatments. There's also a Hatha specialist named Orlando who works with yoga therapy and spinal care.
The resort has been running Ayurveda and wellness programs since 2010, and it's one of the few places in Phuket with a certified Indian Ayurvedic doctor permanently on site. The meals are all vegan and satvik — the resort's term for light, wholesome food prepared according to Ayurvedic principles — and matched to your dosha. The location is on the south end of Phuket, about a 50-minute drive from the airport, near Nai Harn Beach and Rawai, with free shuttles to the beach a few times a day.
