Bahamian Herbalism Wellness Retreat for High Performers — Staniel Cay, Exuma Cays

Bahamas · 4 days · From EUR 2300

The retreat runs for four days and three nights at Embrace Resort on Staniel Cay, a small island in the Exuma Cays reachable by a 30-minute charter flight from Nassau or a direct 2.5-hour flight from Fort Lauderdale. The format is intimate by design — twelve participants maximum, with the same three facilitators leading sessions across the whole stay: Kianna Imani Dean-Nelson, a certified therapeutic art life coach and wellness educator; Christina Lynch, an expert herbalist and founder of the Black Herbalists Alliance; and Natajia Miller, who leads the intention-setting and connection circles. A Bahamian healing practitioner joins the group on day three for the plant walk.

Day one is arrival and intention-setting — a welcome circle, a vegan Bahamian dinner, and a fireside conversation about what balance actually looks like for people who run businesses. Day two is the busiest: flower essences for emotional healing, a session on plant-based remedies for depression and insomnia with Kianna, a sacred tea ceremony with Christina, a sunset gratitude cruise on a private boat, and an evening session on herbal dreamwork for nighttime anxiety. Day three goes outside: a half-day herbal walk with a Bahamian practitioner from 9am to 1pm, followed by a plant-based beachside picnic, herbal journaling in the afternoon, and a closing ceremony with a Bahamian vegan surf and turf dinner. Day four is a farewell breakfast and integration circle before 10am departure.

What separates this from a standard wellness week is the herbalism. It's not a token workshop — you prepare flower essences, blend your own teas and tonics, and learn how adaptogens are used for stress, sleep and focus from a practitioner who runs the Black Herbalists Alliance. The gut-brain connection session and the juice-and-tonic workshop are hands-on rather than lecture-style, and the plant walk is led by someone who has inherited the knowledge culturally rather than studied it.

Staniel Cay itself is the other draw. The water is the clear, pale turquoise the Exumas are known for, and the island is small enough to walk parts of it. The private sunset cruise and the snorkelling excursion to Thunderball Grotto (offered as an early-enrolment perk) are the two headline extras. Because the group is tiny and the schedule leaves real gaps in the afternoons, there's room to actually rest rather than being moved from one session to the next.
