The Pineapple House is hidden down a quiet lane in Canggu, a coastal village that has become one of Bali's most popular spots for surfers, yogis, and digital nomads. The owners, who are surfers and yogis themselves, wanted to create a place that captures the relaxed, health-focused vibe of the area without the formality of a big retreat center. It's a boutique setup with just five rooms across two antique Javanese wooden houses, so you get to know the other guests and the staff quickly.
Days here are built around morning yoga at Desa Seni, a well-regarded yoga center just a short walk away. The group classes cover a range of styles, from Vinyasa and Hatha to Yin and restorative, so there's always something that fits your mood and energy. You'll also get two private yoga sessions where the teacher can tailor the class to whatever you want to work on, whether that's alignment, relaxation, or building strength. If you're into surfing, the staff can set you up with lessons or board hire at one of the nearby beaches, but that's optional rather than a core part of the package.
Spa treatments are a big part of the experience here. You get three hours of in-villa spa time, which you can use for Balinese massages, facials, or other treatments, and they also throw in a healing body treatment and an extra 30-minute massage if you book through us. The idea is to combine the more active mornings with some serious relaxation. Afternoons are completely open. Some guests head to the beach to watch the sunset, others explore the rice fields that are still within walking distance, and plenty just stay by the pool with a book.
Rachel, one of the co-founders, has been teaching yoga for nine years and specializes in Yin yoga, breathwork, and Ayurveda. She's trained in both classical Indian yoga and Chinese Taoist yoga, and brings that knowledge into the private sessions and the occasional workshop. The staff at the villa are mostly local Balinese, and they're known for being warm and helpful, whether that's cooking breakfast, arranging a scooter rental, or giving advice on where to eat.
Location-wise, Canggu is a bit different from the more commercialized areas of Bali. It's still got a village feel, with surf breaks, creative cafes, and a laid-back vibe that attracts a mix of travelers and long-term visitors. The Pineapple House is close enough to walk to the beach and the main streets, but far enough that you get peace and quiet at night. It's not a full-service retreat experience — you'll have to sort out your own lunches and dinners — but that gives you the freedom to sample the local food scene, which is arguably one of the best things about staying in Canggu.
