Belize Wellness Retreat at Naia Resort and Spa, Placencia

Naia is built over a series of small islands in Placencia, with pathways through the planting linking the beach houses to the spa, gym and shared areas. The architecture is low and open, with large windows facing the water, so most spaces look straight out at the Caribbean. The five overwater treatment suites are the standout feature — you have a massage or facial above the water rather than in an indoor room.

The spa menu is where the Belizean setting shows up most clearly. The Native Essence aromatherapy session uses local scents. The Maya Cacao and Cinnamon Wrap is a full-body treatment aimed at hydrating and toning skin. The Coffee and Seaweed Cellulite Reduction uses local spices and seaweed with firming and detoxifying techniques. Facials cover cleansing and hydrating. The Timeless Classic is a Swedish massage; the Deep Treasure works into deeper muscle tension.

Yoga and meditation sessions run on site, held outdoors among the grounds rather than in a studio. The gym is fully equipped for anyone who wants to keep training while they are here. Between the two, you can put together a day that mixes movement and treatment without leaving the property.

Accommodation is in secluded beach houses with private pools, spacious living areas and views over the beach. The layout means you can be as private as you like — the beach houses are set apart from each other, so it does not feel like a hotel corridor. Placencia village and the surrounding reef are within reach if you want to leave the resort.

This is a resort rather than a scheduled group retreat: there is no fixed arrival date, no set itinerary and no cohort of participants moving through a programme together. You book your stay, then choose which spa treatments, yoga sessions and gym time you want while you are there.
