Days start at 08:00 with meditation, then a 08:15 to 09:15 movement class — yoga one morning, Chi-Gong, Kundalini or 5 Rhythms another. Breakfast follows at 09:15. From 09:45 to about 13:00 the time is for hikes to the Pueblo waterfall, walks into the village, beach time, snorkelling, kayaking or paddleboarding, or a boat trip. Lunch runs 13:00 to 14:00. Afternoons from 14:00 to 19:00 are for your individual sessions — breathwork, counselling, Reiki, massage, foot reflexology or Ozone therapy — plus reading, journaling, ping-pong, the labyrinth, or just lying by the ocean. Meditation and inquiry start at 19:00, dinner at 19:30, and evenings are for rest, spiritual cinema or occasional live music.
The package as listed includes one individual breathwork session, one Watsu session, four individual bodywork or energy work sessions, two group breathwork sessions, a morning conscious movement class daily, an evening meditation and inquiry class, a Temazcal ceremony led by a local shaman, a hike to Pueblo waterfall for meditation, a boat trip to a secluded beach with a group breathwork session on the sand, and a snorkelling trip to Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens (you pay for your own meal there).
What separates this from a standard yoga week is the one-to-one work. Four individual bodywork or energy sessions plus a private breathwork session and a Watsu session are built into the price, and the practitioners are long-standing Yelapa residents rather than visiting staff. Dana Hutson has worked in bodywork and spa consulting for over 25 years, helped open the Allegria Spa at Ventana Inn in Big Sur, and has lived in Yelapa for 19 years. Teodor, who runs the centre, is a Clarity and Holistic Breathwork Practitioner and leads much of the breathwork. Holly is a Reiki master, yoga teacher and ceremony facilitator. Rachel is a yoga teacher, musician and breathwork specialist who runs cacao ceremonies with Matias. Carolyn has looked after visitors to Yelapa since 2005 and coordinates the schedules.
Yelapa itself is a car-free village reached by a 40-minute water taxi from Puerto Vallarta airport, which is a 20 to 25-minute taxi from the terminal. The retreat sits in jungle above the shore, with the beach a five-minute walk away. The bay is calm enough for swimming and snorkelling, and the surrounding hills have walking trails, waterfalls and horse riding.
Expect a full but unhurried week. One guest described it as "simultaneously busy and luxuriously relaxing". Sundays may be scheduled as a day or half-day of structured silence with silent meditation, mindfulness walks and group breathwork.
