Colorado Fitness and Wellness Retreat: Hiking, Yoga and Hot Springs

The retreat is four nights at Blue Lake Ranch, a property outside Durango in southwest Colorado. Accommodation is a private room with either a king or queen bed and a private bathroom; common areas may be shared with other guests. Breakfast is provided each morning, along with two packed lunches for hike days and two catered dinners.

Each day includes a fitness or yoga class led by Erika Lynn Roberts. The programme also includes two guided alpine hikes with transportation to and from the trailheads. One evening is spent soaking at Durango Hot Springs. There is also transport into Durango for shopping, or out to Purgatory Mountain for an adventure excursion.

Erika Lynn Roberts is a personal trainer who runs PowHer Coaching and Lifestyle Makeover Packages, with a focus on building mental and physical strength for women. Her training background is in mind-body fitness for women, and the retreat reflects that: strength work, yoga, and time outdoors rather than a competition-style camp.

The location is the draw. Blue Lake Ranch sits in the Animas River valley near Durango, with the San Juan Mountains on the doorstep. Durango itself is a small mountain town with restaurants and shops, and Purgatory Resort is a short drive up the highway for summer activities. The local airport is Durango-La Plata County Airport (DRO).

What separates this from a generic fitness week is the combination of private rooms, guided high-altitude hiking and the hot springs soak, all included in the price. It is not a bootcamp. The fitness classes are daily but the hikes and the free time carry equal weight in the schedule.
