Home › Retreats › Costa Rica Muay Thai & Surf Fitness Week: Jungle Training, Daily Yoga, and an Infinity Pool Ranked Among the World's Coolest
Costa Rica · 8 days · From EUR 2195
A typical day starts with yoga in the morning, led by a professional instructor, before the first Muay Thai session of the day. Sean and his team run two sessions daily, each around 90 minutes, covering technique, pad work, partner drills and conditioning. Sessions scale to the group, so if you've never thrown a punch you'll be doing the same drills as the person next to you, just at a level you can handle.
The training is serious but this is not a fight camp grind. Between sessions there's open BJJ, surf lessons, waterfall hikes, beach bonfires and sunset watch parties. The resort's saltwater infinity pool — ranked one of the ten coolest in the world — is where most of the downtime actually happens. Three meals a day are included and chef-prepared, plus a post-workout tropical smoothie, and one full-body massage or surf lesson is part of the package.
Nosara sits on Costa Rica's Guanacaste coast, and the whole area is famous for consistent surf, warm water and howler monkeys. The resort is built right at the edge of the jungle, so eco-friendly luxury rooms back onto the trees, and you'll hear the ocean from the property. Wildlife, iguanas and a lot of green are part of the everyday scenery.
What separates this from a generic fitness retreat is the coaching. Sean Fagan competed for over a decade — 30-plus pro and amateur fights, appearances on Lion Fight and national Thai TV, two amateur championships (one won with a broken arm) and a title at Madison Square Garden — and now runs a YouTube channel and Muay Thai Guy brand that's reached millions of fighters. He's spent years teaching complete beginners their first technique, and these trips are built around what he's learned doing it.
Group sizes run from 15 to 30 guests, so there's a real team atmosphere without it feeling like a crowd. You'll eat dinner with the whole crew most nights, do group excursions together, and leave with people you actually want to train with again. The airport transfer isn't included, but the team coordinates shared shuttles with other guests so you can split the cost, and all incidental transport on the ground — beach rides, excursions, trips into town — is covered.
