France · 7 days
A typical S-CAMP day starts with movement. The coach runs a CrossFit or cross-training session in the morning, usually outdoors — a WOD, a team workout, or a combination of strength and conditioning work. Breakfast follows, then the group heads out for whatever the location offers: mountain biking, surfing, canoeing, orienteering, or a nature-based challenge with WODs built into it. Lunch is back at the accommodation, cooked with local produce. Afternoons are deliberately unscheduled so you can swim, rest by the pool, walk, or nap. Late afternoon or early evening there's yoga focused on mobility, plus pranayama and meditation sessions. Dinner is a full meal, again prepared on site, and most evenings wind down early because the next morning starts with training.
What separates an S-CAMP trip from a standard fitness holiday is that the whole thing is run by people who train and teach CrossFit themselves. David owns a CrossFit box in the south of France, and Alice has been practising since 2016, so the coaching comes from within the sport rather than from a general activity provider. The wellness side isn't bolted on either — Alexis is a certified yoga teacher who trained in the Himalayas, and he built the yoga, breathing and meditation elements into the schedule from the start. That combination of a proper CrossFit coach and a proper yoga teacher on the same trip is unusual for a small French operator.
The locations are chosen for what you can do outside the gym. Lacanau sits on the Atlantic coast in the Landes, with a lake and ocean beaches; the Gorges du Verdon trip is inland and mountainous, better suited to hiking, cycling and water-based activities in the gorges; the Paris-area trip is short, 3 days and 2 nights, and works as an introduction to the format. Accommodation is described as charming and comfortable with good bedding — this is not a hostel-and-bunk situation. Meals are balanced, generous and made from local products, and the team puts real weight on the food being something you look forward to rather than fuel you tolerate.
The social side is a deliberate part of the design. Groups are kept to 10–14 participants so that everyone knows each other by day two, and the free afternoons are there specifically so people can spend time together without a schedule. Serenji Travel's background was in small-group immersion travel, and that shows: the trips are built around the group dynamic rather than around individual training goals.
Practically, you get to the location yourself and the team takes it from there — accommodation, meals, coaching, activities, and the equipment needed for the scheduled sports. A certified coach is with the group for the whole trip. Nutrition guidance and recipe ideas are provided as part of the programme, and massages and spa access are included in the schedule. If you've done a CrossFit holiday before and found it was mostly just gym sessions in a different postcode, the outdoor activity component and the yoga and breathing work are the main differences here.
