Fight Club Philippines: Boxing, Muay Thai & Fitness Retreat in Palawan

Philippines · 7 days

Days at FCP run on a two-session rhythm. Morning training is the hard one, usually 90 minutes to two hours — boxing pads, Muay Thai technique, BJJ drilling, or strength and conditioning depending on your package. Evening sessions are shorter and often sparring-based or focused on technique. Between them there's a long stretch for breakfast, rest, the beach, or a spa treatment. Nobody is forcing you into an afternoon class.

What separates this from a generic fitness holiday is the combat coaching. Muay Thai, boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are taught by working coaches, not fitness instructors doing a martial-arts module. Guests mention the trainers by name — Welbeth and Johnson — and describe them as experienced professionals who push you toward your stated goal. That's a different thing from a resort that offers a "boxing class" at 10am.

The location is the other differentiator. FCP sits within walking distance of Nagtabon Beach, on Palawan's west coast. Guests describe walking down after training to watch the sunset. Palawan is not a resort strip — it's jungle, coastline and quiet, which is why the property markets itself as a place to unplug as much as train. The island ranked #1 in Travel + Leisure's world's best islands list.

The three package tracks work differently. Weight loss combines training with controlled meals and is the most structured. Fitness is for people who want to train twice a day and maintain or build. Combat training is for guests who already have some background in boxing, Muay Thai or BJJ and want real technical work plus sparring. You can also mix — the couple from the USA trained Muay Thai, boxing and BJJ across morning and evening sessions over five days.

Accommodation is on site, and the on-site restaurant serves set meals rather than a buffet. Reviewers repeatedly flag the food as better than what they found elsewhere on Palawan, with Filipino flavours. Facilities were brand new as of the soft opening phase. If you're comparing this to a Thai fight camp, the trade is: less grit, more beach, better food, and a shorter flight from most of Asia.
