Home › Retreats › Five-Season Wellness Retreat on Estonia's Hiiumaa Island
Estonia · 7 days
Eha sits on Hiiumaa, an island off Estonia's west coast that forms part of the West Estonian Archipelago Biosphere Reserve. The retreat opens in summer 2026 and is designed around the island's traditional "five-season" calendar — the extra season, between winter and spring, is a genuine feature of local folk belief tied to the area's pagan "earth faith" tradition. Programs change with the season rather than running as a fixed weekly template.
Accommodation is on site, split between guest rooms and larger wellness suites, with shared spaces for eating and resting and an expansive spa building at the centre of the property. Interiors are understated, leaning Nordic rather than ornate — natural materials, plain furnishings and large windows facing the forest and coast.
Days are shaped by what's available outdoors that week. In warmer months that means foraging sessions for mushrooms, berries and wild herbs, walks into the surrounding forests and down to the coastline, and meals cooked from whatever was collected. Through the colder months, the spa and sauna programme takes over, with thermal bathing rituals and heat-and-cold cycles run in the Nordic style.
The food is seasonal and locally sourced, with the kitchen built around what the island produces rather than a fixed menu. Depending on the week, expect fresh fish from the Baltic, root vegetables and preserved goods through the colder months, and wild ingredients gathered on the property's land in summer and autumn.
The site is still under construction ahead of its summer 2026 opening, and reservations are being taken ahead of that date. Dates shown run from October 2026 through July 2027, so the first bookable season covers late autumn, winter, the island's fifth season, and the following summer. Because the programme shifts with the season, which week you pick genuinely changes what you'll be doing.
