Home › Retreats › Forest Yoga & Meditation Reset in the Kumaon Hills
India · 4 days · From USD 104
The retreat is based at Camp Gopika in Jeolikote, a short drive from the lake town of Nainital in Uttarakhand. The property sits on the scenic Nainital Road, tucked into the Smanora Range, with pine forests and rolling hills on all sides. It's a working homestay and campsite, run by Gopika, who has been hosting guests here for over seven years. The atmosphere is informal and welcoming rather than polished.
Each day includes guided yoga asanas, pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation, with Yoga Nidra for deep relaxation. Sessions are led by Ishita, who has a Master's degree in Yoga and a teaching style that's calm and attentive. She adjusts the practice to suit whoever is in the group, so it works for complete beginners and more experienced practitioners alike.
The food is a big part of the experience. Meals are organic, vegetarian, and prepared in the sattvic tradition—think light, wholesome dishes that leave you feeling clear-headed rather than heavy. There's also the option to try intermittent fasting, with brunch and dinner served instead of three full meals. The retreat provides everything you need for a simple forest getaway: a welcome drink, daily classes, nature hikes, and even a cooking class, all included in the price.
