Gozo Slow Living Retreat: Yoga, Breathwork & 1:1 Healing Week in Malta

Malta · 7 days · From EUR 1595

Samudra sits in Qala, at the quiet south-eastern end of Gozo, a short walk from the beach and the village square. Guests stay in traditional Mediterranean farmhouses over 400 years old, reserved just for the retreat group. Most bedrooms are private en-suite; some are shared occupancy. Rooms have air conditioning, and some come with terraces looking out over the countryside towards the sea and Comino. Every farmhouse has its own private pool.

Next door is the Samudra Shala, which contains an underground cave carved into the rock around 4,000 years ago. It's used for quiet reflection and selected practices, and sound healing sessions are held there. The building is not purpose-built — it's a place that predates retreats entirely, and the team treats it that way rather than as a wellness facility.

The daily rhythm is loose but real. Mornings typically start with guided embodiment work — yoga, meditation, breathwork, somatic exploration or conscious movement — and some sessions happen on the beach. Brunch follows. Afternoons are deliberately empty: swim in the pool or the sea, walk the Gozo coastline, use the conscious library, or do nothing at all. Group sessions on belief patterns, relationships, identity and emotional dynamics run across the week, alongside sharing circles held with trauma-aware principles, ceremonies, nature immersion and creative workshops. Dinner is a home-cooked vegetarian meal at a shared table every evening.

The three one-to-one sessions are the spine of the week: a massage, an energy healing treatment and a tarot reading, each with a different member of the team. Alongside these, guests receive a personal eco-journal and self-inquiry worksheets, and there's an integration call scheduled after you get home.

This is not a fitness retreat and the team says so directly. There's no fast-paced programme, no structured training, no performance targets. It's built for nervous system regulation and rest, paced by the group rather than a fixed formula. If you want a hard physical week, this isn't it.

Samudra was founded by a mother-and-daughter duo, Mila and Luca, and the wider team is described as family by choice — people connected by shared daily life rather than by a business plan. They moved to Gozo from northern Europe, and the retreat grew out of how they already live: the food, the rhythms, the home. Guests join that life for a week rather than being hosted at it.
